As before I mentioned in a similar thread months ago when it was deleted. Even though I don't play anymore. Do what your community wants. Let go, it's for the best.

I plan on keeping this here for as long as possible.

a thread made by a parasite such as yourself who logs in once or twice a year about selling this game.
there are players here who play regulary every day non stop and their threads were ignored, what makes you think yours will be any different? just because its promoted? or just because its a worthless human parasite such as yourself ?

you should be the last guy of this community who should even give an advice to admins of what to do with their game.
your microscopic brain has to understand that admins DO NOT owe to you nothing or to anyone. they DO NOT have to worry about this game if they dont want to. for what i care, they can delete the game right now, and you and your bitchass tears wont make any difference.

so stop crying like a little spoiled princess, go pack your bags and cya after 1 year on your next bitch thread

ps: im ce

Not ignoring a problems does not mean being a parasite. if he is so sick and frustated with results of years of detachment to the level he does not enjoy this game and does'nt consider it as good bestowment of time anymore he is not to be blamed. those threads indeed are aggressive but considering the situation it's natural that it's too frustated for oldtimer to keep things quiet and watch the game die. i don't think he did it on bad purpose of sabotage.

I believe we all want this game to sucess and recover. I am not saying Ivan and Amok need to be blamed and could do more because i don't know if it's true. I certainly don't believe we should hate them if it's result of diffrent life priority but i believe that the message that the community is trying to transfer to them for years is the death of the game is avoidable and it's a shame to let it fail as though it is doomed while on fact it's one of the best games on the internet.

"Don't worry guys, map editor will be out next month.."

This game needs a lofty bit of polishing and re-tooling, along with a non-browser release before anyone will be willing to buy it. You're better off playing a Paradox game at this point if you enjoy Grand Strategy games as a genre.

To be fair, much of the most enjoyable and redeeming aspects of game design come by accident; Many of the routine tactics utilized by older players when this game was first launched in 2010-2011 have been removed because of shitters complaining and/or "balancing". This to me is the main cause of lack of Afterwind's design; Their's far too much emphasis put on balancing and community-administration cooperation and design. The admins from the start should have gone with their gut feelings on design and listened to people that were good at the game to the point of understanding core mechanics and design philosophy.

Beyond that though, the admins are caught up in their own personal lives, leaving Afterwind an afterthought at this point. Not to mention the lack of quality content the community produces.

Why don't you, the community, make a better successor to this game?

That's 7300 purchases of premium per year. We'll estimate each of those 7300 purchases are all for the basic one month package, totaling just about 44.000 USD per year. Server maintenance on average costs around 1500 USD per month, leaving you with 26.000 USD per year is revenue. I would imagine that you're being paid, and so are Ivan and Amok. I would normally assume for the sake of argumentation that you make around the average that community managers make globally... 58.000 USD, which is not in balance per revenue. This number, adjusted for lack of revenue (x), size of this business (y), and total hours worked (z) and divided by four (You, Amok, Ivan, the Business) is around 2500 USD yearly for you, about 6000 USD a piece for Amok and Ivan (just spitballing their hours worked here) and 11.500 USD for the business. I never see advertisements (nor any marketing for that matter) for Afterwind anymore, nor has there been non-community made updates and expansion to this website in some time. I think it's safe to assume largely no income is going to the "business", so I'll adjust Amok and Ivan's totals to 11.750 USD a piece, eliminating the fourth business variable all together. I do not know the United Kingdom's tax code for necessary business income nor any other regulations Protobytes must be following, so I'm going to continue letting this be simple. After doing a background check on the Atwar-game.com domain registry, I discovered Atwar-game.com is registered in Buxton, United Kingdom, though for the life of me I cannot find any source that shows Surrey's tax rates nor any sort of local domain costs, so I'm going to assume a flat class 6 light business tax rate of about 25 Euro, or about 30 USD per month. That reduces the 26.000 USD total to 25640, and Amok/Ivan's income to 11.570 USD a piece.

11.570 dollars is definitely a large sum for such a small operation, but one must wonder why most of that isn't being invested here. Are times that tough in bongistan? Along with that" How many of those 20 people a day are recurring customers and how many are new? What is the overall install base for this game? What's the retained population? It's very minimal, based off of what I've experienced here for over half a decade now. In seven years, has this game progressed at all? Minimally.

When I say polishing and re-tooling, I mean that this game is visually ugly, the mechanics are confusing, move order isn't forgiving, creativity in playstyle is punished, pvp dynamics are muddy, and developer content and creativity has vanished. I wouldn't recommend anyone spend six bucks on Afterwind a month when you can go drop ten dollars on Europa Universalis or Civilization and get a better experience out of it.

20people a day buying premium i disagree maybe 1 a day..... your whole calculating is corrupted i guess and server maintenance i doubt it 1500USD cause based on my experience 10 players can find 4mbs internet(i guess 100mbs cost 30$ a month) perfect for their hosting and this game gets fucked as soon as it gets 100 player im not expert but i think thats what logic says... this game would worth less then 5000$ as total i guess :/ unless the players who just logs in the game gives them profit that would make this game expensive because there are many no lifers and many new players who come for maximum of one month then stop playing it

I'm just going off of what Sun Tzu said; I can't imagine even a single person's buying Premium on here unless it's with illegal Sebrian polka music whoring BTC-tier shit. The 1500 USD cost is an aggregate average and guestimation relative to the rest of the internet, if there's an actual statement (As RoaiStyle said) of Amok and Ivan stating that server costs only total 200 USD a month, then that changes things. I did not factor in clicks or domain costs in my initial estimate for the sake of simplicity and lack of information, either.

People have been complaining since 2011. Remember how vocal SRB was about it? Then there were those Roblox kids in 2012-2013 who complained about how buggy the Map Maker was, which still isn't fixed I might add. Why is this acceptable?

Amok/Ivan's income to 11.570 USD a piece.

Leave Amok and Ivan alone. I have seen worse game with greater revenue. If the owners are satisfied with just $11,570 per year, so be it. If the developers give up the chance to generate larger income with established computer codes why should we even care about their financial well being. This game had a lot of potentials, but never fully explored.

At last some one talking sense...

This game needs a lofty bit of polishing and re-tooling, along with a non-browser release before anyone will be willing to buy it.

20 people a day strongly disagree.

If you're referring to the people in the room, online, I can guarantee you that out of those at least half are complaining about the game.

They always did anyway... Im referring to the 20-30 people buying premium features.

People have been complaining since 2011. Remember how vocal SRB was about it? Then there were those Roblox kids in 2012-2013 who complained about how buggy the Map Maker was, which still isn't fixed I might add. Why is this acceptable?

Whoever said u had to accept it.

So you condone and comply to a class action law suite? Because that's what not accepting it looks like. Either that or they need to start fulfilling promises and fast.

Glhf!

Really fucking classy. Take a long hard look here folks, you're paying this man's paychecks and this is how he responds to your rightful complaints.

No fucker here pays my pay check pal, im just keeping this shit barely alive until i can save enough pennies or convince someone crazy enough to give me the cash to buy the game, and explore its potential, im just being straigt. Yea they are rightful complaints, but surely you have a perfectly good wall at home to bang your head off <3
