Can you explain your backround please? I'm genuinely curious about how you came to get your views. It's not like anyone here is saying that America is the gospel of good and just brigades against Russia. It even seems most Russians aren't a fan of how it's being run these days. So why are you so obviously pro-Russia? What are your interests outside of Russian/US comparisons?

1. My mother is from Russia, fiercely patriotic, and father is greek who extremely loves Russia. Naturally my upbringing was pro-Russia.

2. I experienced an offensive behaviour by pro-west/anti-russians during 2014 ukrainian crisis simply for pointing out that there was a referendum. I was called pro-russian, anti-ukrainian, anti-west, american-hater. At first i was trying to defend my view, but since that is impossible in a community where 99% people have opposing view, i became sarcastic, where i less and less defended my view, and mocked opponents by pointing out americas actions in modern history.
If people didn't react so emotionally to something happening 10,000km from them and trashtalked me, i'd leave 2-3 comments giving my 2 cents and return to the game.

3. Silmarillion and gaming are my top hobbies, geopolitics is at the bottom.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that most Russians don't like how Russia, Perhaps from News Channel showing Russian Protests? But Putin's approval ratings in Russia is actually pretty high.

Agree, they hate him, but it's hard to get rid of him since he killed every opposition leader (and he is not hiding it, since the most of assasinations happened near Red Square).

P.S The funniest moment of Tito's existance here is when he wrote to Goblin: "Ne moram uvijek ovdje pričati istinu" ("I do not always need to speak the truth here"), it's too sad that we don't have that screenshot anymore...

I love Greece, lived in Thraki, my father is from Hpeiros. Konstantinoupolis not being part of Greece hurts me like part of me being taken. I still visit there every year or two, but less and less for some reason. I remember 90's and early 2000's my house was full of Greek and Russian relatives.

My parents love both countries equally, father is very patriotic about Greece and every relative gathering he dance syrtaki. I am glad they are not politicized, and just love national language, culture and history, not politicians.

But being half-half is hard. I can't pay allegiance to neither Russia or Greece, because if i join one, i will betray another, so i can just stand aside and watch. For example i could never cheer during football games.

Russia have 110 million registered voters, you can fake 500k-1m votes, but not 50 million.
Also check who are 2nd and 3rd most popular factions: communists and nationalists. If first win, they recreate USSR, if latter win, they recreate Russian Empire. In both scenarios, they supress civil rights and expand rapidly.
Putin and his party are liberal centrists compared to alternative.

This is the problem with most East Europe countries, opposition is extremist, not more compentent or less corrupt.

Its hard to tell... if this is true, that mean the Western governments changed tactic. I don't have to tell you this, you know how pro-West opposition(and then position) politicians look like in Eastern Europe... noisy, offensive and incompetent people: Sakhashvili, Poroshenko, Yeltsin, Timoshenko. And suddenly Navalny appears - eloquent, charming, charismatic, handsome, polite. Way more sophisticated than opposition before him.

Maybe he is someone you can work with. Find middle ground.

However, in time I saw that I was at least partially wrong (I mean, idk about his conflicts with some ppl here and why they always try to badmouth him or if what they say it's true).

A dialogue can be opened anytime with him with kinda any theme regarding Eastern Europe.

In general, Westerners have a low/bad/incomplete understanding of the issues in Eastern Europe so maybe an opinion in + will help you, Sid

Would you not say it goes both ways?

Almost all polish people i spoke are extremely against russia. Everyone i spoke in kiev was extremely against russia. When i ask polish people if its majority of their country having a negative point of view on russia they always say yes, they actually say its close to 100%. The same goes for baltic states when you exclude the russian speaking minorities.

But considering all the comments above, i see now that andartes is full on troll.

I never felt i belong to any of these two countries, kinda hurts, seeing how others fiercely defend their homeland and i'm like 'do i get to choose one and jump in, or what'.

When i see Russian nukes, i say that's it, im Russian, pulls out russian flag from the drawer. But then i see 3500 year Greek history, founders of philosophy and democracy, and switch allegience

I know no one from congo and i have never did any research about congo. I do know some of its past. For Peru and Congo idk how they are relevant to USSR.
Tajikistan was a former soviet republic, its ruled nowaydays by a dictator and is very poor. Most central asian countries were / are very dependent on russia and most of them are friendly to russia for it, mainly because they migrate to russia to work there and send money back home. Hence, they still speak russian and a lot of their working force works in Russia. It is a completely different story for eastern europeans, because they go to the rich west to work and not to russia.
Afghanistan however is another case because of its communist past.
