2nd Grand 1v1 Afterwind Tournament: Summer Edition [*]

RULES

1. SCHEDULING MATCHES

It is the responsibility of Tournament participants to arrange a time to play their matches against their
assigned opponents within 1 week of the beginning of each round. Failure to do so may result in
disqualification.
1a. Should participants be unable to agree upon a time within the one week for whatever reason, the
tournament director will assign a time for the match to be played, first by attempting to reconcile the player's
schedules, and finally by fiat should accommodations be unattainable.
1b. If only 1 player attends the time assigned for the make-up match, that player will either be assigned a
reserve to play, or be deemed the winner, as decided by the Tournament Director
1c. In the event that neither player makes the make-up match, the Tournament director can at his discretion
either reschedule the match again, or disqualify both participants.


2. CREATING A MATCH

When both players are in attendance, and ready to play the match, the top player of each bracket will create
the 1V1 Game with the following
settings:

Map Name: Europe
Starting Funds: $5000 This is non-negotiable
Turn Duration: 2 or 3 Minutes (both participants must agree, or the default is 2 minutes)
Maximum Players: 2

Victory:
Capture Capital: Hold for 2 Turns
Maximum Game Duration: 50 Turns

Advanced:
Initial Countries: 1
100 Additional Cities: Both contestants must agree, but the default is Yes (100+ cities.)
Rare units: NONE


3. Playing a Match

The Match will be played as any Afterwind game, until:
a. the victory condition is achieved,
b. the maximum turn occurs, in which case, victory will be determined by the player with the most SP.
c. One player surrenders or quits the game, in which case, the remaining player is deemed victorious

4. Reporting a Victory

It is the responsibility of the Victor to report the result of the game to the Tournament Director via forum or
private message

4a. If possible, the winner should take a screen shot of the results of the game, showing the winner
4b. In the event that a screenshot is unavailable, the results must be corroborated by the losing opponent for
the match to be considered valid.

How did you make up those brackets, I managed to get the highest SP player and I'm not the 2nd highest ?

Like I said in the previous thread: I didn't like that Challonge automatically set highest seeds against lowest. So I shuffled the top
ten players, and then shuffled the bottom 22. Here's how it came out. In the interest of cool, I'll make it double elimination.

So fail when it ranks me 2, when i'm clearly 1

That feel when embarrassing defeat. I mean, a cursory look at the map below shows me owning Germany, France, England
AND Poland.

Additional notes:

I don't expect this to be much of an issue, but I know it's happened to me. Since choosing your country 2nd (after your opponent has done so)
is more advantageous, some people deliberately let their time run out so that their opponent has to choose first. This is poor manners, I feel, especially
in a competition. If the 2nd to choose is fine with that, then no problem; in the case of a dispute, I ask that the person who was given first choice by the
game should therefore be the person to first select their country.

I believe the tourney should be redone, as far as player v player selection goes, something like what you said simply should not happen first round.

I'm sorry, did you really want me to keep the tournament the way Challonge does it?
Whooptydoop would've been up against me on the first round. It would've been much more "unfair" to lower level
It's not changing, deal with it. plenty of reserves ready to take your spot if you're not ok with the starting lineup.

And also, I don't think it would be funny at all to have Undisputed fighting me or Ironail in the first round, for example. And to be honest, in an 1 vs 1 on Europe, anyone can beat anyone (of course some situations are hard to happen, but there is always a possibility), since the upgrades and experienced are in a second place in that kind of map, after first pick, movement priority and strategy/counter strategy used, so there is a big piece of luck on it too (this is also the reason I prefer bigger maps).

Exactly Pinheiro: I lost twice o Aristosseur recently, some I think I'd probably rape on a larger map. Europe, especially Europe 5K, is a mix of strat and starting country

And just to let you all know; I'm not complaining about being against Undisputed. In fact, I'm hoping to learn a little sumthin sumthin from how he plays. I know I'm new, and I know I'm most likely not going to win, but I also know that this is all for the fun of it!

Tournament has officially started! People in the first round should now start planning and playing their matches.
If after 2 days, your opponent is still un-contactable, PM me and explain. I'll try and resolve the issue, and if I can't, you'll either play
a reserve or advance onwards to the next round by forfeit (should a reserve not be found)

Me and fruit can battle anywhere from friday night till deadline, so ill message you the results.

To solstrand: my scehdule up until next monday(PST) is really messed up, so I don't know if we can do it until then. So can we plan for monday afternoon?
