Here is an image of infantry defending inside an Air Transport.
NO the air transport did not crit. The infantry defended first.
Here is another image of infantry NOT defending inside an Air Transport.
Does anyone have a good explanation as to why sometimes it defends and other times it doesn't?

Depends on whether the air transport has moved, there are 2 cases:
1) the transport does not move in this case the infantry defends it
2) The transport moves in this case the infantry does not defend it

If you leave few units behind they will defend the AT and if they die all the units in AT die without defending.
If you don't AT will def first.
Maybe if you don't move the AT or if you send the AT in the units, units will defend first I don't remember if I tried that.
Anyway only a noob wouldn't have his AT in a city or walled so I didn't really study that shit.
Also if you get wall tbed it depends on the oppenents units.
Maybe this can change with a general but I don't think.

Also there is no wall bug, battle/tb bug or wf went in bug, if something happen it's your fault.
A failed wall isn't a bug if you move the unit of the wall too much to have a perfect wall during your turn, it won't make the wall, and maybe make a wall with another unit.
Battle bug or tb bug it's the same thing it depends on how you merged stacks and where you attack, and the range of the oppenent units.
If a wf goes in it's because a capital and a city with a gen have a bigger hitbox.
For me it's game mechanics.
(that's completely off topic but who cares)

Just buy like 10 air transports so if 9 of them die your units will still be safe
