How To Edit Existing Maps

How do I edit maps that already exist such as the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones maps?

Is it possible to edit these already existing maps made by other players, to edit the units and borders and everything in the map?

No. You cannot edit other players maps unless you are a collaborator. You can however clone them(if allowed by map maker).
