Hi guys,
What am I missing in the following situation:

I start a casual game by myself (i'm the only one joining in turn 0). I pick Morocco.
During turn 1 (during which I don't reinforce), someone joins and picks Portugal.
During turn 2, out of Portugal which produces 2 units, he manages to attack Rabat with 1 transport, 6 destroyers, and 1 Inf (different than his 2 starting Inf that are still visible on the map).

How in the hell can a player produce 8 units from a country that has only 2 of production? I know we get extra reinforcements when we join late, but ... I never thought turn 1 was considered late. Is that the reason why???

The game balances production at the start, so when someone joins with a small country when someone else has a large country they will get extra reinforcements to compensate. I've started with 10 reinforcements from Portugal before in a 5k game because there were other players like Greece and Ukraine in the game, which caused the game to boost my original units. This system is the same one that works for latejoining as well, people don't get extra units when they join late, they get extra because the in game players have such high production.

Me and my friend tested this out.
We recreated what you described, and it is perfectly possible to do what he did.

Any more explanation needed?

EDIT**** Yes like Ends of Invention said as well.

That makes a lot of sense (the system adds reinforcements based on other players' production, and not based on the turn the game is at). Thank you for taking the time to answer

Thanks for researching! I won't make the same mistake next time (just filled my capital with a few militias)!!

Remove "not".
It is based on both things. Obviously, the later you join, the more reinf you will get.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the turn joined doesn't matter. You always get more units when latejoining because of the same balancing system that works at the start. Because players control continents and can produce loads, the game gives latejoiners massive amounts of reinforcements.

Try it yourself if you want. It's not the same joining in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 50th turn. Both facts influence the ammount of reinforcements recieved. At least that's what experience has showed me XD

Testing done. With the Spain vs morocco situation discussed above, the results are as follows.

On turn 49 the number increaced to 8, but this is because morocco's available units had also increaced (to 15 from 10 originally) so this was just the game compensating for the reinforcements available.

Please don't think I don't know what I'm talking about.

From m'y expérience thé amount of reinf u get is calculated like this: add all thé standard reinf of all players, divide by number of player. Round that number up if it s not à round one. This is thé min reinf any player will get. If u have more "natural" reinf than that u keep original figure
Ex 3 players in 5k no extras Poland Ireland and belgium. Poland gets 8 as usual belgium and Ireland get 8 + 3+33=4.66 rounded to 5.

This is extremely important to know when picking 2nd in à duel for ex. As belgium vs Poland with xtras u get 7reinf but vs serbia u get only 5, makes à big différence for rushing Paris T1...
